Concerts resume at Rock Fence Park

As fall begins in central Kentucky, music lovers in Nicholasville are taking one last fling for live music while the weather allows.

The free Rock Fence Park concert series started back Oct. 2, and will continue three more times before the end of the month.

Teg Evans of Shindig Music Productions, which puts the concerts on with sponsorship from Nicholasville-Jessamine County Parks and Recreation, said the time seemed right to bring the concerts back.

The Oct. 3 concert attracted a hardy crowd of 35, he said.

“Considering it was put together quickly and was a chilly Friday night, I was pleased.” Evans said.

It’s quite a drop from the crowds of up to 400 in pre-COVID events, he said, but there is plenty of room in the park for people to be socially distant. Those living near the park can enjoy the music from the comfort of home, he said.

Saturday’s concert will be “50 Years of Rock and Roll” with Larry Cory, Michael Thomas and Tinker Ball providing the music, he said.

On Oct. 18, David Hilan, Ron Cox, Brad Smith and Scott Collins, all former members of Eastbound, will take the stage.

The following week on Oct. 24, Tiffney Nesbeth and Brooks Napier will perform, Evans said.

All concerts are free and begin at 4 p.m. The park is located at the corner of Oak and Third streets in Nicholasville. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.
