Pearl Mae Seals Calvert

Jan. 31, 1927 – Nov. 27, 2018

Pearl Mae Seals Calvert, 91, of Lancaster, Kentucky (formerly of Odessa, Texas) and widow of Luther Howard Calvert Sr., died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018 at the Danville Center for Health and Rehabilitation.

She was born on Jan. 31, 1927 in Winters, Texas to the late Charles Henry Seals and Ollie Elizabeth Cummins Seals. She was a devoted and loving sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who placed her family above herself. She was an avid and lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan.

During her life she suffered tremendous loss, but never lost her faith or spirit. 

Pearl always had a kind word for all she met and a heart of gold. She never met a stranger as anyone she met was an instant friend.

In her latter years of life, her pride and joy was spending every day loving her great grandchildren and being an active part of their lives.

She was retired from the First National Bank in Odessa, Texas and later volunteered as a Pink Lady at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. 

Pearl is survived by a granddaughter, Jamie Andrews Davis, her husband Chris Davis, three great grandchildren, Cyndi Davis, Cayden Davis, Dustin Calvert and a sister Lavada Haupt.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Andrews Ogilvy, her son, Luther “Sonny” Howard Calvert Jr. and two grandchildren, Michelle Calvert and Michael Calvert.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Dec. 1 at Betts & West Funeral Home of Nicholasville, Kentucky, with Paster Larry Buford officiating.

Visitation was from 11 a.m. until the time of service. It was Mrs. Calvert’s wishes to be cremated and have her ashes interred in Sunset Memorial Gardens of Odessa, Texas. Online guestbook at www.BettsandWestfuneralhom

Stanley Eugene Guynn

March 31, 1956 – Dec. 12, 2018

Stanley Eugene “Buddy” Guynn, 62, widower of Kay Guynn, of Nicholasville, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018.

He was born March 31, 1956 in Lexington to the late Joseph and Toni Marie Corbin Guynn.

Stan was operations manager for United Transportation for 32 years. He is survived by a son, Brandon Guynn; step-son, Dion Fields; two sisters, Nancy (Jerry) Earlywine and Sandy (Perry) Marshall; two brothers, Steve (Connie) Guynn and Joe (Karen Whitman) Guynn; two step-grandchildren, Haley and Mason Fields; and special friend and co-worker, Missy Mann.

He was preceded in death by a son, Shawn Guynn. Funeral services were held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at Kerr Brothers – Harrodsburg Road. Visitation was from 1 p.m. Saturday until the service time at the funeral home.

Honorary pallbearers were Steven, Tony and Matt Guynn, Josh and Casey Marshall, Todd, Travis, and Jason Earlywine, and the drivers at United Transportation.

Krista Lee King

Aug. 8, 1972 – Dec. 13, 2018

Krista Lee King, 46, passed away Dec. 13, 2018. She was born on Aug. 8, 1972 to the late Owen W. King and Mary Elizabeth King who survives.

Krista enjoyed working with the children while she was a bus monitor and also with the special needs adults while she worked with the Lords Legacy Program. She attended Bethel Christian Church and loved her cats Ebony and Samson very dearly.

Besides her mother she is survived by two brothers Richard and Ashley King, one sister Lisa (Stephen) Willoughby, nieces and nephews Sean Thomas Willoughby, Benjamin Owen Willoughby and Emma Elizabeth King. Krista is also survived by a special friend Ryan Griffin, her other mother Carolyn Steward and a special little boy who held a special place in her heart Emerson James Potter.

Besides her father she was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Samuel Turk and Ida Lee Brown, paternal grandparents Warren and Jewel King.
