On Saturday, Sept. 9 the 2017 Special Olympics of Kentucky Equestrian Competition was held in Lexington at the Alltech Arena at Kentucky Horse Park. Seven local Olympians participated in the competition.

When the event came to a close, Amber Wachs went home with two gold medals, David Piersall with one silver medal, Danae Ball with two silver medals, Jon Hardy with one gold medal and a fourth-place ribbon, Katie Hale with one gold and one silver medal, Kathleen Colliver with two bronze medals and Tage Cook with one fourth-place ribbon and one gold medal.

The Olympians were coached by Asbury student volunteers under the direction of adjunct professor Michele Ridenour.
