Ruth Fitzgerald McMurtry, 90, passed away peacefully August 26th 2021 at her home in Nicholasville Ky. Ruth was born November 11, 1930 in Cynthiana, Ky to the late William Joseph Fitzgerald and Teresa Luig. She moved to Lexington and attended St. Paul Catholic school and St. Catherine’s Academy. Ruth met her late husband John Hunt McMurtry through a mutual friend and moved to Nicholasville, where they raised their two sons Jay (Jackie) McMurtry, Carr McMurtry, and daughter Cynthia (Ray) Parker. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, her niece Mary Beth Bishop, her grandchildren Jason (Clare) McMurtry and Jana (Greg) Stiles of Lancaster, Ky and PJ and CJ Parker of Lexington, Ky, and three Great Grandchildren, Lilly and Olivia Stiles and Alice McMurtry. She was preceded in death by her brother Buddy Fitzgerald and sister Margaret Messick . We would like to thank her caregivers Vicki, Lisa, Pearl, and Tayshante for their wonderful care over the years. Visitation was at Hager and Cundiff Funeral home on Monday August 30th 2021 from 6-8pm. A Funeral mass was held at St Luke’s Catholic Church on Tuesday August 31st at 11 am with burial following at Maple Grove Cemetery. Family requests that everyone wear a mask.
