The Nicholasville City Commission started the year with a handful of appointments to committees and local boards Monday evening.

The appointments included Paula Elder to the Board of Adjustments, Doug Fain and Steven Benson to the Nicholasville-Wilmore-Jessamine County Joint Tourism commission and Mark Wilson to the code enforcement board.

Following a 23-minute closed session, the commissioners voted unanimously to authorize city attorney Darren Sammons to begin negotiations to purchase a piece of property, which was not identified. Nicholasville Mayor Pete Sutherland declined to name the property or purpose, citing upcoming negotiations.
