Jessamine County Sheriff Kevin Corman presented Sydney Lynn Bourne with the annual Kentucky Sheriff Association Scholarship for $500 at a recent fiscal court meeting. Currently a freshman at Eastern Kentucky University, Bourne is studying homeland security with a minor in psychology and Spanish. Bourne said she hopes to work with federal law enforcement upon graduation. Sydney said she was inspired to pursue a career in law enforcement by her father, John Bourne, who is a sergeant for the JCSO. “I’ve grown up in law enforcement and I can’t see myself doing anything else besides pursuing the career my family has lived in for generations,” she said.
