Trump, Biden, Cravens, and King take the cake in other primaries

Jessamine County residents have cast their votes. Now, the candidates for the general election are official. 

Incumbent Kim King is a winner this election, receiving 60.97 percent of the Jessamine vote for the 55th District State Representative seat. King assumed office in 2011. James Toller received 39.03 percent of the vote. 

Katrina Sexton is an officeholder of the Burgin Independent School, At-large in Kentucky. She will be King’s Democratic opponent for the 55th Representative District Seat.

Perhaps as expected, Republican nominee, 45th president Donald Trump and Democratic incumbent Joe Biden won their primary races to determine November’s presidential matchup- both in Jessamine County and throughout the country. These results leave voters with the same matchup as the 2020 presidential election.  

In Jessamine County, Biden received 1,025 votes out of 1,394 votes cast in Jessamine County. “UNCOMMITTED” finished in second place with 224 votes. 

Dean Phillips and Marianne Williamson also received votes with their percentages in the order they are listed in. 

Donald Trump received 2,399 votes out of 3,013 votes cast in Jessamine County. In second place is Nikki R. Haley with 281 votes or 9.33 percent of the vote.

“UNCOMMITTED”, Chris Christie, Ron Desantis, Vivek Ramaswamy and Ryan L. Binkley all received votes as well- with their percentages in the order they are listed above. 

Of 3,490,967 registered voters statewide, 443,457 ballots were cast, equaling a 12.71 percent voter turnout. 

Of 42,171 voters countywide, 4,442 ballots were cast, equaling a 10.53 percent voter turnout.
