John Robert Blandford, 72, loving husband of Trudy Lynn Anderson Blandford, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024, at his home. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on August 27, 1951, to the late Joseph Robert Blandford and Christine Marie Wheatley Blandford. John retired after a 40 year career with Exxon Mobil, where he worked as a Territory Marketing Manager. He graduated from St. Xavier High School in Louisville, Kentucky, and then earned his business degree from the University of Kentucky. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Nicholas Robert (Susan) Blandford, and a daughter, Melanie Rae (Gavin) McPartlin; four grandchildren, Luke Robert Blandford, Maebel Faith Blandford, William Joseph Blandford and Elsie Lynn McPartlin. He is also survived by two brothers, Charlie (Janice) Blandford and Keith (Susan) Blandford, and four sisters, Shirley Carey, Joyce (Mike) Hagan, Debbie (Joe) Ludwick, and Mary Beth (Robin) Houze, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Bill Carey. He is also survived by his lifelong best friend, Eddie Herzog, and dear friend, Barry Gibson. John was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ, a devoted husband, a loving father and brother, and a super-charged Papaw extraordinaire. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Betts & West Funeral Home, with Southland Christian Church officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, at Betts & West Funeral Home. The service will be live-streamed beginning at 11:00 AM on our Facebook page.
