Man arrested for manslaughter from drug sale

A man was arrested in Nicholasville on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023 on a Jessamine County Circuit Court indictment warrant for manslaughter 2nd-degree.
According to the Nicholasville Police Department’s Facebook page, its criminal investigation division conducted an investigation with the assistance of our drug enforcement unit.
The investigation resulted in the arrest of Lawrence Lynch for unlawfully distributing a schedule II controlled substance, subsequently resulting in death.
Under current Kentucky law, drug traffickers responsible for overdose-related deaths can receive a maximum charge of second-degree manslaughter, which is punishable by 5-10 years in prison as well as a possible fine of $1,000 to $10,000.
According to Kentucky Revised Statutes 507.040, a person is guilty of manslaughter in the second degree when he wantonly causes the death of another person, including the unlawful distribution for remuneration of a schedule I or II controlled substance when the controlled substance is the proximate cause of death.
