A Tennessee man was arrested in Nicholasville last week on East Brannon Road.
On Thursday, October 19, Nicholasville Police Department (NPD) officers were dispatched to the East Brannon Road and U.S. 27 in reference to a driver that was found unconscious in their motor vehicle, according to the arrest citation.
Emergency medical services arrived prior to the NPD units and were able to wake up Michael Donahue Massey.
EMS then concluded he was not going through a medical emergency.
Upon the arrival of NPD officers, Massey was asked to step outside of his vehicle and this is when an officer said he smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from Massey. The officer said in his report that he witnessed multiple indicators of someone being under the influence of alcohol, including drunk-like behavior, unsteady on his feet, slurred speech and fumbling.
Massey denied any field sobriety tests and an open container of vodka was found in his vehicle on the rear passenger floor. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and operating on a suspended or revoked license.
He also had an outstanding warrant from Fayette County for failure to appear in court.
