Lexington man arrested for assault of Jessamine Co. Sheriff’s deputy

Last Monday, Sept. 25, a Lexington man was arrested for assaulting a Jessamine County Sheriff’s deputy during a traffic stop.
It happened the night before, on Sunday, Sept. 24, at the intersection of Highways 68 and 169. According to a news release, the deputy was attempting to make a traffic stop on the vehicle, and the vehicle initially continued driving. The vehicle then pulled over, and the driver, later identified as Ciro Garcia Saenz, exited the vehicle and started running.
After what was described as a lengthy foot chase, Saenz reportedly appeared to surrender before striking the deputy in the head and face numerous times during the assault.
The sheriff’s office put out a warrant for Saenz, and he was later arrested on Garden Park Drive in Nicholasville. He was transported to UK Hospital in Lexington for an evaluation of his injuries.
