Sonya Gail Lowry Henry, 83, widow of Esker Lee “DeDe” Henry passed away Thursday, July 13, 2023, in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born on April 22, 1940, in Jessamine County, Kentucky to the late Roy E. Lowry and the late Alene Cobb Lowry. Sonya was retired from R.J. Reynolds, from farming, and from the Jessamine County Detention Center where she worked as a Correction Officer. Survivors include her daughter, Leisa Henry Brumfield (Jeff Banta), sister, Darlene Hensley, and a host of other family members. She is preceded in death by a brother, Donnie Lowry. Services will be 1:00 PM, Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Pastor Billy Peel officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Bearers will be Jon Sallee, Dru Parsons, David Hammond, Walter Prewitt, Todd Wilson, and Billy Teater. Honorary bearers will be Billy Fount House, Dan Wooley, Johnny Hager, Jack Cooper, Jimmy Watts, and Jan Hager. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Jessamine County Humane Society.
