The Journal is happy to welcome a new intern, Eden Slone, to our news team.
Slone penned the following letter to our readers:
“Hi, everyone! My name is Eden Slone and I am the newest intern reporter at The Jessamine Journal.
I am currently a senior at the University of Kentucky, where I am majoring in journalism with a minor in international studies. After graduation, I hope to attend law school and have a career in international affairs. Reading and writing are two of my greatest passions, and I have loved being able to expand on these skills through receiving my journalism degree.
Outside of being a student, I am an active member of my sorority on campus, Alpha Delta Pi. I served two years on our executive board: first, as the vice president of marketing, and second, as chapter president, where I finished my term in December. You can frequently find me at Keeneland, Kroger Field, or at a booth at Josie’s with a tall stack of pancakes sitting in front of me.
I am originally from Pippa Passes, Ky., a small town in Eastern Kentucky sandwiched between Hazard and Pikeville. My hometown paper is the Troublesome Creek Times, and is what gave me such a love for local news.
I couldn’t be more excited to serve the community of Nicholasville and its people. I look forward to becoming more involved in Jessamine County and writing stories that keep readers both informed and engaged on all community happenings. Please feel free to contact me anytime at eisl222@uky.edu.”
Slone will be with the Journal from January to April. If you see her out in the community be sure to give her a welcome to Jessamine County.
