Last week, the Jessamine County Fiscal Court held a job fair at the Jessamine County Courthouse.

The turnout was more than 75 people, according to Sydney Hunt, the executive assistant at the Jessamine County Fiscal Court.  Typically, there are not many openings for county jobs, but an increase in demand for municipal services has prompted Jessamine County to start hiring en masse.

“We had a vast array of backgrounds and experience. We had many wonderful candidates that came through that would be suitable for positions. We were happy with not only the number of people that came and showed interest but the qualifications and positive attitudes they brought as well,” said Hunt.

Multiple municipal departments were in attendance, with booths open to speak with interested residents. The departments included: animal care & control, the detention center, E911, the sheriff’s office, planning & zoning, the judge-executive’s office, the road department, and the occupational tax office.

The human resource department was also at the job fair to answer questions about benefits, and the hiring and application processes. “We felt that the event was very successful. We were pleased with the interest people had, and we received a lot of applications during the event. Even more people took applications home or took applications for family and friends,” Hunt said. said. “We expect to get even more applications and interest from the event in the following days. We enjoyed hosting the event, getting in touch with people in our community, and providing opportunities.”

She added that she believes Jessamine County will be gaining many firm employees from this fair. Departments with openings will begin reviewing applications and contacting applicants in the upcoming weeks. Until all positions are filled, applications will stay open.
