National Library Week is April 3-9! Across the country, this annual celebration shines a spotlight on libraries and the people who work in them.

From little ones learning to read to teens meeting their best friends, from those new to parenting to those new in town, libraries have the power to transform lives.

JCPL is a special public library, but you don’t have to take my word for it! Here’s what folks in the community say:

“I’ve been coming to JCPL since I was 7 in 1992. Mom took us to every program/event. We would pull lots of books that we found by using the card catalogue and signing each card from the back of the book. It’s been 30 years and now I bring my children and students here.” – anonymous

“I found my two best friends here and for once felt accepted for being myself.” – Kasey

“Nowhere else in Jessamine County will you find an organization so willing to serve the community with loving kindness, attentiveness, and grace.” – Mikey

“This place has helped me a lot. When I’m really sad, I come here. I would like to thank the staff for being very kind and welcoming.” – anonymous

“We used to come EVERY week for storytime when my son was 6 months through 4 years old. Now he is 9, and he lives for reading—and he is at a higher reading level than his grade level! We love JCPL! – anonymous

“This library saved my life.” – Cierra

“I love this library. I came here when I was 6 in first grade and loved it ever since I was a little girl and I am 10 years old now (I could never outgrow the children’s section). I have been to many libraries but here is my favorite.” – Maura

“All seven of our children learned to love reading when they were young and Jessamine County Public Library was a big part of that. Now they are scattered but teaching their own children to love reading.” – LeAnne

“JCPL helps me put the “grand” in grandmother! It’s very true. We (me and the kiddos) always love and learn from our library visits!” – anonymous
