Ruth Adele Teater Overstreet, 91, loving wife of Charles “Bunky” Overstreet for 67 years, entered into eternal rest on Friday, Feb. 26, at her home.
She was native of Jessamine County, where she lived and worked her entire life. Born June 13, 1929, she was the last of the eight children of the late Elijah and Beatrice Preston Teater. Ruth was a member the Nicholasville Baptist Church, where she served as treasurer and Sunday School teacher, and a retired employee of Blue Grass Energy. She was also a former telephone operator, as well as an employee of First National Bank and Farmers Bank.
She loved sewing, canning, and cooking and most of all her family, of which she was known as the Queen.
She instilled the love of high heels, lipstick and just being plain old fancy in her granddaughters, and her fierce love of family to 3 grandchildren Kim Doolin-Young, Doug Doolin and fiancee Tabitha Arnold, and Hannah Doolin, 5 great grandchildren Dawson Doolin, wife Ashely, Hayden Doolin, Austin Young, Taysean Spillman, Zoe Doolin, Cassidy Stamper, husband Derrik and Great Great-grandchildren Sawyer Doolin, and she was looking forward to Laine Doolin, who will join the family in June.
In addition to her husband “Bunky” she will be fondly remembered by her only son Doug Doolin, as well as sister-in-law Hazel Teater, and many other friends and extended family members.
In addition to her siblings she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Charlene “Herbie” Doolin, whom she adored.
A Remembrance Service will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday March 4 at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home, and she will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery following the service. Honoring her as pallbearers will be Dawson and Hayden Doolin, Austin and David Young, Allin Harris, and Gerald Fain. Honorary bearers will be George Overstreet, Raymond Rice, Ann Carol Faulkner, Barry Collins, and Buck Huffman.
Her family greeted friends from 5- 8 PM on Wednesday March 3 at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home. The family requests donations be made in her memory to Jessamine County Schools Homeless Children Education Program, c/o Jessamine County Central Office, 871 Wilmore Road, Nicholasville, KY 40356.
“If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart. I’ll be there forever.”
