Alvin Underwood, 86, husband of Mary Blackburn Underwood, died peacefully Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020, at his home on Wesley Drive in Wilmore, Kentucky.

He was born in Jessamine County, Kentucky, on Dec. 30, 1933, to the late Roas Underwood and Myrtle Purvis Underwood.

He is survived by sons, Alvin Mark (Jae) Underwood and Leonard Welch Underwood; four grandchildren, Lindsey Ryan (Willie) Baker, Rebekah Lauren (Corey) Hoffman, Emma Rose Underwood and Elliott Roas Underwood; great-grandchildren Cody Ryland Eads, Wiley Griffin Baker, Raylee Jackson Hoffman, Ryker Vincent Hoffman and Rockland Mack Hoffman; and a brother, Charles (Marcella) Underwood.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Hardin Underwood, and sisters Martha Perry and Ruby Hager.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Pastor Lon Oliver officiating.

Interment will be in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
