Man charged with cruelty after shooting dog
A Nicholasville man was arrested after he allegedly shot a dog in its kennel inside a residence.
According to the Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a residence on Sugar Creek Pike at 9:15 p.m. Sept. 16.
After arriving at the scene, deputies said William S. Cassity, of Sugar Creek Pike, admitted to shooting his wife’s dog. According to the arrest citation, Cassity told deputies the dog had bitten his daughter a week ago, and that he shot the dog while it was locked in its kennel.
Cassity’s wife said she was in the room when it occurred, and that four other children were in another room at the time.
Cassity was arrested and charged with second-degree cruelty to animals and second-degree wanton endangerment.
He is scheduled for a pre-trial conference Sept. 29 in Jessamine District Court.
