The City of Wilmore has canceled its weekend summer concerts for July and August because of concerns about COVID-19.

The city had already canceled the June series.

“The organizers want to place the highest priority on community safety,” as well as recommendations of state and local governments and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Wilmore Community Development Board said in a press release.

The twice-monthly weekend series included Gospel on the Green Friday nights and Stonebridge on Saturdays, which featured genres such as bluegrass, country, jazz, folk, big band and classic rock.

The original Stonebridge series opened in 2007 and Gospel on the Green debuted in 2010. The gospels are free and held on the Wilmore Downtown Green.

Organizers plan to return in 2021 with two concert weekends each month of June, July and August.
