Beni Parsons initially opened her dream salon at 120 N. Main St. in Nicholasville Sept. 27, 2019, and planned to host a grand opening in October; but fate stepped in and dealt her a devastating hand.

A plumbing issue on the floor above her shop flooded and destroyed nearly everything from the ground up.

Insurance coverage allowed Beni to rebuild, and she had the opportunity to resurrect her dream in an even more impressive way.

“I decided to go another way entirely with the design,” Parsons said. “Basically, the only things that are the same as the first design are the antique wood floors and the exposed brick wall. Everything is new and improved. You really have to see it for yourself, and I hope everyone will stop in and see us. We’ve worked around the clock to get back up and running, but it’s been worth it.”

The official grand opening is now set for Feb. 1. There will be door prizes, snacks and a drawing for a basket full of hair and skin care products. Beni Sue’s features the Matrix line of products.

Parsons said in addition to basic hair care services, such as cuts and styling, they will also provide hair coloring, perms, nails, makeup, facial waxing and eyelash extensions.

During the restoration process, Parsons rented the first booth space in the shop to Jessamine County native Lauralee Hager formerly of Southern Strands.

Lauralee has been a master stylist for 20 years. She graduated from Central Kentucky Vocational School in 2000. She enjoys all aspects of color and men’s cuts.

Call Lauralee for an appointment Tuesday through Saturday.

Salon hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Earlier and later appointments are available by calling 881-9061.

Other booth spaces are available for rent to experienced hairdressers and cosmetologists.
