Rogers Scholar Gavin Carr, a junior at East Jessamine High School, recently presented a check from donations raised at a car wash to Jessamine County Special Olympics Swim Team head coach Lisa McCord.
Carr raised close to $350 from the Jessamine County Sharks Car Wash in September at Blair’s Auto Sales in Nicholasville. Carr, a volunteer coach for the Sharks, said the fund-raising event allowed him to express gratitude toward the team and serve a group that needs the money.
He is the son of Robert Carr and Elizabeth Carr of Nicholasville. Each graduate of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program is required to complete a community service project.
