JCPL partnered with the Jessamine County Courthouse, the Jessamine Early Learning Village and County Judge Executive David West to offer a celebration on Nov. 2 for children who have recently read their first book independently. Participants rang the courthouse bell and the sound traveling through the community let everyone know that these children are now readers. The children also wrote their names in JCPL’s Book of Names and received a special certificate celebrating this important achievement. Another celebration will take place in the fall for those interested in participating.
