Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Health is one of the most important things in life and should never be taken for granted. Let me tell you my story.
Four years ago, I started having health issues. I went to several doctors who ran tests and said it was nothing. One year ago, my health got so bad I ended up in the emergency room right after my ride along here with the Nicholasville Fire Department after battling through for months of severe stomach pain and issues 24/7. The doctor in the ER misdiagnosed me as having ulcers and sent me on my way, giving me ulcer medicine and Zofran.
I lived on nausea medicine morning, noon and night for almost a year while I pushed through at work and home with my kids. One of the things my illness did was compromise my immune system because what my body was fighting, and it took away my ability to work out – like I love. I’d try one day to end up sicker than a dog and on my back for seven to 10 days after.
In January, I went to a new doctor. After hearing my story, he agreed to gallbladder surgery with minor testing. I had that surgery in February. Results, I’d been suffering from Chronic cholecystitis, or in terms we all can understand, chronic gallbladder disease. With my levels, my doctor looked at me wide-eyed and said, “you were a very sick woman and you’d been that way for a long time!”
This last week I gave myself a goal for the week, like I always do. Workout five to six days that week at 5 a.m. Even though I was scared it would make me sick like years before, I diligently woke up every morning and worked out for an hour.
Finishing my sixth day of 5 a.m. workouts last Friday I felt fabulous. I had completed my goal, and most importantly I had not fallen ill and was able to finally get back to one of things I enjoy doing most.
Working out should not be a punishment, it should be enjoyable because you can. Not everyone is blessed to have the ability to enjoy a good work out. After a year of having my enjoyment taking away from me, I’m rejoicing because once again I can. With my health issues finally solved and out of my way, I thank the Lord I finally got it figured out and I’m almost feeling 100 percent again.
