Jessamine County Public Library partnered with the Jessamine County Courthouse, the Jessamine Early Learning Village and County Judge-Executive David West to offer a celebration April 27 for children who have recently read their first book independently. Participants were invited to ring the courthouse bell. The sound traveling through the community let everyone know these children are now readers. The children also wrote their names in JCPL’s Book of Names and received a special certificate celebrating this important achievement. Another celebration will take place in the fall, for those interested in participating. Shown here are Marshall Mahoney, Zoe Reynolds, Molly Reynolds, Declan Casto, Whitleigh Short, Cooper Wayne, Aliyah Eschrich, Emmett Hager, Caleb Kidd, Mason Harrison, West Burke, Kylie Cadle, Caleb Morris, Nolan Muncy and Will Combs.
