Historical Society to host quarterly meeting, book sale
The quarterly meeting of the Jessamine County Historical Society is set for 7 p.m. April 25th at the Jessamine County Public Library, located at 600 S. Main St. Retired Asbury Professor Ike Adams will be speaking on the early history of Jessamine County and Central Kentucky from about 1775 to the early 1800s. The historical society is still selling the Withers Library books – Thursdays 1 to 3 p.m., Fridays 5 to 8 p.m.. and Saturdays noon to 5 p.m.

Wilmore to celebrate Arbor Day
Wilmore will celebrate Arbor Day on Friday, April 27th, at the AdventureServe grounds located at 50 Campground Land, just off East Main Street. The event runs from 1 to 2:30 p.m.  Participants can rotate through learning and hands-on stations such as geology, water wildlife, wetlands and tree planting all of which will emphasize the value of trees to our environment. At close of program, participants will receive a hazelnut seedling for planting at their homes. This event is a joint project with the nearby Wilmore Elementary School and sponsored by the Wilmore Community Development Board. Parents, children and all tree and nature lovers are invited to attend!

East Jessamine Elementary Track and Field Meet
East Jessamine High School will host their annual elementary track and field camp and meet on April 23 and May 2. This event is open to grades Kindergarten through fifth-grade from all Jessamine County schools. Registration begins both nights at 5 p.m. at the EJHS track/soccer field behind the Jessamine Early Learning Village, located at 851 Wilmore Road. Cost is $20 and includes a t-shirt. Jessamine Piece Quilters hold weekly meetings
The Jessamine Piece Quilters announced its weekly meetings every Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m. at The Nicholasville Christian Church, located at 104 S. Second St. Those who attend are advised to enter through the back door. Meetings consist of talking about quilts, planning activities and outings and bringing a latest project for show and tell. Open enrollment at Jessamine County Head Start
Jessamine County Head Start announced its open enrollment from 9 a.m. to noon April 12, located at 1330 Drake Lane in Wilmore. To be eligible, children must turn three or four years old on or before Aug. 1, 2019. Birth certificate and proof of income required. For more information call 859-858-2585.

Jessamine High School class of 1989 announces reunion
The Jessamine High School class of 1989 30th high school reunion will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. May 11 at Lone Oak Country Club, located at 44 Club Lane. The cost is $60 per person. Nicholasville Farmer’s Market now holding vendor sign-ups
The Nicholasville Farmer’s Market is looking for vendors to participate in the 2019 Nicholasville Farmer’s Market. Those interested can obtain a application by visiting the Jessamine County Extension Office, located at 95 Park Drive, or by emailing nicholasvillefarmersmarketky@gmail.com. The Farmer’s Market is scheduled to open April 27th.

Barr hosts meetings in county
U.S. Rep. Andy Barr’s field staff will have office hours from 3 to 4 p.m. on the third Friday of every month at the Jessamine County Courthouse, located at 101 N. Main St. Meetings are held on a first come first serve basis. For more information call 859-219-1366.

AARP Tax-Aide offered at JCPL
The Jessamine County library will serve as the host site for the AARP Tax-Aide program.  IRS trained and certified volunteers will be available from 9 to 11:30 a.m. every Monday and Wednesday, beginning Feb. 4 and ending April 10 to assist low to moderate income taxpayers, especially those 60 and older to prepare their tax return and answer tax related questions.  Those wishing for assistance must bring social security cards and photo identification for themselves and their dependents.  In addition, all forms related to income and deductions such as W-2, health insurance, unemployment compensation statements, all 1099 forms, child care information, receipts or canceled checks if itemizing deductions and any other relevant information should be brought.  A copy of last year’s return is a must.  Taxpayers are encouraged to arrive before 11:30 on each day of service.  Questions should be directed to the tax-aide foundation at 1-888-227-7669.

Military veterans wanted to volunteer
Military veterans are needed to volunteer for American Legion Post 63 Honor Guard at 111 Hoover Drive in Nicholasville. Uniforms will be furnished to make sure all veterans receive full honors. Contact Jim Vannay at 859-553-1232 or Dan Perke at 859-327-4094.

Jessamine DUI offers education program
The Jessamine DUI and Substance Abuse Program offers a 20-hour education program weekly from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. An out-patient program is offered Mondays at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Assessments are by appointment only. Attendees must have a court AOC form, citation and conviction date prior to appointment. Well Nutrition hosts Body Recall
Carolyn Walter will teach her exercise class “Body Recall,” from 2 to 3 p.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday at The Well Nutrition, located at 123 Orchard Drive. Exercises are done in a chair and with a chair and are helpful to regain strength, mobility, flexibility. coordination and posture awareness for patients who have suffered from strokes, joint replacement, heart, arthritis and Parkinson’s disease.
