It seems there is always something being offered at the Jessamine County Public Library. From their calendar of events we post weekly, to extra extravaganzas like its celebration for Black History last month, JCPL offers something for everybody – which is a great thing for a local community.
This week, I received three email on upcoming events at the library I wanted to share with you. Some are held annually and should be no surprise for those who follow and visit the local library regularly. The other is a new offering which I think a lot of people will be happy about.
First, next Saturday the JCPL will offer a summer activities fair for local families to come and learn what summer offerings the Jessamine County community will have for their children this year. From 10 a.m. to noon, located at 600 S. Main St., the following organizations will attend the fair: Asbury Impact U, Jessamine County Schools, Mindy’s School of Dance, Gloria Deo School of Dance, Wilmore Family Center, City of Wilmore, Jazzercise, and The Bluegrass Boy Scouts. Each organization will have a chance for participants to win door prizes.
The JCPL Clothing Swap will also be held this month from 6 to 8 p.m. March 27 and 9 to 11:30 a.m. March 28, the event is open to all ages and will serve as a way for the public to trade in good quality, gently used clothing and shoes in exchange for a chance to “shop” from a wide selection of donated items. JCPL will also be accepting the following for access to the event: clean clothing, accessories, and shoes in good condition and labeled on the front with gender and size. Toys and baby gear will not be accepted for this event, and donations can begin to be dropped off at the JCPL children’s desk beginning March 14th.
Something new the JCPL will offer those in the community with a library card is a free bus ride via NichTran to and from JCPL. Any resident without a library card will be able to receive one free ride from NichTran to the library in order to obtain a library card. In order to obtain a library card, residents must have a photo ID with their current address. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
It seems whatever your needs, whether it be One-to-One job search assistance, Exercise with Ease, Girls Who Code, Jump & Jive or Mothergoose Storytime offered this week in JCPL’s calendar of events, or clothing swaps, a summer activities fair and free rides – JCPL has got the community covered.
