Asbury Univer-sity’s Artist Series will welcome cellist, singer-songwriter and composer Ben Sollee in concert March 8. The concert, which is free and open to the public, begins at 7:30 p.m. in Asbury’s Hughes Auditorium.
A Lexington native, Sollee came to recognition with his cover of Sam Cooke’s “Change Is Gonna Come.”
The NPR sensation was just the beginning for Sollee, who has since recorded multiple albums and collaborated with artists including Otis Taylor, Abigail Washburn, Bela Fleck and many others.
“This is an exciting opportunity for campus — and the broader Central Kentucky community — to enjoy outstanding musicianship, artistry and storytelling,” Dr. Jill Campbell, a Music professor at Asbury and chair of the Artist Series Committee, said. “We look forward to celebrating the gift of music with Ben Sollee.”
