John Alfred Wise

John Alfred Wise, 79, died Jan. 8, 2019 at Bridgepointe at Ashgrove Woods in Lexington, Kentucky.

Born March 2, 1939 in Lexington, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Lloyd Alfred and Lillian Clemmons Wise.

Mr. Wise was a 1958 Versailles High School graduate and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He retired from UPS after 31 years of service.

Mr. Wise received Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord at Ashland Ave. Baptist Church where he met his late first wife and mother of his children, Kathleen Krom Wise.

He was involved in East Hickman Baptist Church where he drove in the bus ministry, was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church.

He was a member of Nicholasville Church of God with his late second wife, Retha Gregory Wise.

He recently enjoyed attending Church of The Savior with his daughter and family.

Survivors include three children, Sharin (Georges) Louis, Karin (LeAdam) Dawson, both of Lexington, KY; and Jonathan (Melissa) Wise, Paducah, KY; a step-son, Bobby Gregory, Wilmington, NC; nine grandchildren, Vincent (Samantha) Louis, Joseph Louis, Katie Fiske, Julia (Jacob) Estes, John Fiske, Daniel Fiske, Kelsey Wise, Jonathan Wise and Jonah Wise; a brother, Marion Wise, Lexington, KY; and a sister, Phyllis Lynch, Richmond, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held 1 p.m. Saturday Jan. 12 at The Church of Savior (in the Jerusalem Cafe), 1301 Brannon Rd., Nicholasville, KY 40356 by Pastor Steve Pearson. Visitation was Saturday until the service at the church.
