Mistakes cost more than you think

My name is Daniel Stidham. I am writing this letter as an apology to the community. I committed a robbery here in Jessamine County on the day of July 19, 2016.

I’ve been locked up close to two and a half years.

I was sentenced to serve 15 years that I am currently serving in a 6-by-9 cell at the Kentucky State Prison.

I lie awake many nights wondering how I let my life be taken from me because of my addiction to heroin. I’ve lost not only my family and friends during my addiction, I’ve stolen from them and I have also lied to do whatever was possible to keep up with my addiction.

Heroin is a powerful drug. Once it has a hold on your soul and pride, it won’t let go until it has taken your life.

I’m not proud of anything I did while I was on my crime spree to feed my addiction to heroin. I did something I would have never done. I crushed a man’s spirit on that morning of July 19, 2016.

I’m really sorry, and I don’t want to put a name on the individual that I hurt, but if you are reading this, from the bottom of my heart to yours, I am truly sorry. I hope I’m given the chance one day to prove it to you.

I also want to send out a prayer to all suffering addicts. Please don’t let that demon take your life too.

There are plenty of good-hearted people out there that will help you. Don’t ruin your chances like I did mine.

I’m blessed I got put in a 6-by-9 cell instead of 6-foot hole in the ground.

If you can’t find anyone to talk to, you can write me. I would be glad to explain my whole background. Maybe I can help save your life.

I hope you have a happy holiday and blessed New Years.
