Mary Beatty Duncan

Sept. 10, 1951 – Nov. 16, 2018

Mary Beatty Duncan, of Versailles, died Nov.16, 2018 at the age of 67 at her home after a courageous battle with kidney cancer.

She was born Sept. 10, 1951, in Lexington, Kentucky to the late Harold and Edna Kerns Beatty of Nicholasville.

Mary graduated Jessamine County High School in 1969 and retired after 48 years as an administrative staff officer in the purchasing department at the University of Kentucky.

She was a member of Porter Memorial Baptist Church. Mary was a loving wife, mother and friend and always put others first.

Survivors include her daughter Denice Renae Duncan of Versailles and step-son Marshall Jerry Duncan II of Lexington, two sisters Janet Beatty (L.D.) Nickles of Harrodsburg and Charlotte (Raymond) Rice of Nicholasville, three brothers Gene (Alice) Beatty of Wilmore, Robert Beatty and Randy Beatty both of Lexington, niece Kelly Beatty and nephews Ray Rice and Ryan (Melanie) Rice of Nicholasville, two great nieces Destinee Rice and Haley Rice both of Nicholasville.

A funeral service was held Tuesday at Kerr Brothers-Harrodsburg Road. Burial was in Lexington Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Matt Spalding, Craig Locke, Bill Harris, Jim Sutton, John Deans and Mike Mudd. Honorary pallbearers were Naomi Emmons, Suellen Bowling, Gail Costa, Drew Costa, Becky Purcell, Joyce French, Wendy Brown and Jennie Kurtz Abner. Visitation was held Monday at Kerr Brothers-Harrodsburg Road.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Trinity Christian Academy 3900 Rapid Run Drive, Lexington, Kentucky 40515 or Immanuel Baptist Church, 3100 Tates Creek Rd., Lexington, Kentucky 40502.

The family will like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Baptist Health and Bluegrass Care Navigators for their care and support.
