FFA announces Miersma as member of the month

Ryan Miersma was recently named the Jessamine County Future Farmers of America member of the month.
What got you involved in FFA?
“What got me involved in FFA was the eighth-grade zero block class. Mr. Thomas did his presentation of what FFA was and I thought that it would be a great thing to be a part of.”
How has FFA changed your life?
“FFA has changed me in a lot of ways, but it has changed me the most in my confidence. Whether I am presenting in class or in front of judges.”
What is your favorite thing to be involved in with the FFA?
“I really don’t have a favorite thing that I have been involved in, but I would say that the most enjoyable thing was competing at the state convention in Ag Communications.”
What are your plans for your future involvement in FFA?
“I plan to compete on more teams and hopefully compete at the national convention.”
What are some things you have learned from being a part of the FFA?
“Just a few of the any things that I have learned from FFA include, public speaking, carpool karaoke and how to tie a tie.”
Would you say that FFA has strengthened your leadership skills inside and outside of the FFA?
“FFA has definitely strengthened my leadership skills. It has helped me build my confidence and mad made me take a step back and see the whole picture.”
Do you think that your involvement in FFA will help you in whatever future you choose?
“My involvement in the FFA has helped me decide what I want to do in college, which is to get a degree in bioengineering.”
