From staff reports
Betts & West Funeral Home has partnered with the Vital ICE app, which helps retrieve a user’s information in the case of an emergency.
“We are sponsoring it in the community. This is just another tool to let first responders know if there is any precondition and if there is anything that they need to be aware of as far as medications or allergies that can be noted on the board or in this app. It can be accessed and obviously if you are allergic to penicillin they need to know that- and if a person would be conscious or unconscious there can be access,” said Jessamine County Judge-Executive David West owner of Betts & West Funeral home.
In a recently released statement, the funeral home asked the community to download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play on a smartphone and enter the code #4173.
The potential life-saving application then prompts the user to fill in their information so they can be better prepared with important medical information on file.
In the case of an emergency, first responders will be able to use the Vital ICE app in order to retrieve the specific user’s vital information.
This information can then be easily taken on the ambulance to the hospital or sent directly to the hospital from the Vital ICE app where ER staff can further access this critical information.
“We can help anybody that wants to download an app that does not understand how to download an app,” West said.
