Executive Director of Tourism Mitchell Pearson and Jessamine County Judge-Executive David West addressed residents recently at the monthly Jessamine County Chamber of Commerce breakfast.

Pearson said the recently-established joint tourism commission has decided to go with a new name, Visit Jessamine. He said he wants to have a complementary partnership with Lexington.

“Lexington makes a challenge for my job to try and figure out a way to get guests to come and stay in Nicholasville,” Pearson said. “Yes, we can keep you here, and we also have all of this right down the road.”

West spoke about Camp Nelson nearing national monument status.

“It is not a deciding issue, it is a uniting issue,” West said.

West also said economic development is an important issue and spoke briefly about the recent land purchase for an industrial park.

“To think we will be a part of hundreds of thousands of families supporting their families and making a living, that is a good thing,” West said.
