Board of Elections seeking precinct officers

The Jessamine County Board of Elections is seeking precinct officers for the 2018 elections. 

To apply, those interested are asked to call the Jessamine County Clerks Office at 859-885-4161 ext. 5, or visit in person at 101 N. Main St. #A. Applications for mail-in absentee ballots must be received in the County Clerk’s Office via mail no later than 4 p.m. on May 15. A voting machine will be located in the County Clerk’s Office which can be utilized for absentee voting only. It will be available until 5 p.m. on May 21. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 22.

Kiwanis Club announces meeting

The Jessamine County Kiwanis Club announced it will hold its next meeting at 6 p.m. in Thursday, May 17, at the Jessamine County Public Library, located at 600 S. Main St. All are welcome.

Solo exhibit announced for Prince Dinger painting

A solo exhibit has been announced for paintings by Prince Dinger from 5 to 8 p.m. on June 8, at the Polvino Family Art Center, located at 109 S. Main St. For more information, contact Dinger at 859-221-3519.

Local Arthritis foundation announces Walk with Ease Program

The Arthritis Foundation announced starting May 21 it will hold a Walk with Ease Program designed to reduce pain and improve overall health. The event is hosted by the YMCA of Central Kentucky and meets at St. Joseph Jessamine, located at 1250 Keene Road, from 9 to 10 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, at the walking trail near the far end of the parking lot. The program is free but space is limited.

East Jessamine schools announces open gym

East Jessamine Middle School announced an open gym for girls basketball. All potential girls basketball players are required to have an updated school physical. The open gym will be: Friday May 18; Wednesday, May 23; and Friday, May 25.

An open gym will also be available for East Jessamine High School girls basketball every Tuesday after school from 4 to 5:30 p.m., from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Jessamine Piecequilters announce annual show

The Jessamine Piecequilters announced it will host its annual quilt show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 19. The show will be held at Nicholasville Christian Church, located at 104 S. Second St.

JCS offering online registration

Jessamine County Schools announced registration for the 2018-2019 school year will start with spring registration through  May 31. Due to Jessamine County Schools summer hours, online registration will close from June 1 to July 11, and will reopen July 12 remaining open until school begins Aug. 15.
