Commissioner debate scheduled for next week
Nicholasville City Commissioners will gather from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 15, at the blue building in the City/County Park, located at 402 Park Drive.
Light refreshments will be served and all commissioner candidates have been invited to debate a variety of topics. All are welcome.
Board of Elections seeking precinct officers
The Jessamine County Board of Elections announced it is seeking precinct officers for the 2018 elections.
To apply, those interested are asked to call the Jessamine County Clerks Office at 859-885-4161 ext. 5, or visit in person at 101 N. Main St. #A. Applications for mail-in absentee ballots must be received in the County Clerk’s Office via mail no later than 4 p.m. on May 15. A voting machine will be located in the County Clerk’s Office which can be utilized for absentee voting only. It will be available until 5 p.m. on May 21. Election day is May 22. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Local Arthritis foundation announces Walk with Ease Program
The Arthritis Foundation announced starting May 21 it will hold a Walk with Ease Program designed to reduce pain and improve overall health. The event is hosted by the YMCA of Central Kentucky and meets at St. Joseph Jessamine, located at 1250 Keene Road, from 9 to 10 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, at the walking trail near the far end of the parking lot. East Jessamine schools announces open gym
East Jessamine Middle School announced an open gym for girls basketball. All potential girls basketball players are required to have an updates school physical. A parent meeting is scheduled for Friday, May 11. The open gym will be held on the following dates: Friday, May 11; Wednesday, May 16; Friday May 18; Wednesday, May 23; and Friday, May 25.
An open gym will also be available for East Jessamine High School girls basketball every Tuesday after school from 4 to 5:30 p.m., as well as every Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. for all potential players in ninth to 12th grade in the 2018-2019 school year.

Family Center in Wilmore announces Farmers Market Fun
The Family Center in Wilmore, located at 334 E. Main St., announced it will hold a Farmers Market Fun: Rhubarb event from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday, May 12. The event features educator Jenny Holmes Shockey, role playing and an opportunity for those who attend to visit the local Farmer’s Market. All are welcome and donations are accepted.

Kentucky Wine and Vine to be held Saturday
The Kentucky Wine and Vine festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, May 12, on York Street in downtown Nicholasville. The celebration will host a dozen wineries from across the state, as well as 30 craft and food vendors and live strolling musicians. A Kentucky Farm-to-Table dinner will also be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 10, in honor of Wine Fest week.

Nich-Vegas Elite to host
pancake breakfast
Nich-Vegas Elite, a traveling AAU basketball team from East Jessamine Middle and High Schools, announced it will host an “all you can eat” pancake breakfast fundraiser at Applebee’s in Nicholasville, located at 113 N. Plaza Drive, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., Saturday, May 12.
Tickets are $8 a person. Donations will be accepted and all are welcome.
Jessamine Piecequilters announce annual show
The Jessamine Piecequilters announced it will host its annual quilt show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 19. The show will be held at Nicholasville Christian Church, located at 104 S. Second St. For more information visit jesspq.org.
JCS offering online registration
Jessamine County Schools announced registration for the 2018-2019 school year will start with spring registration through May 31. Due to Jessamine County Schools summer hours, online registration will close from June 1 to July 11, and will reopen July 12 remaining open until school begins Aug. 15.
