Kentucky historian to address military officers at Camp Nelson

Nicky Hughes will address the Bluegrass Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America at noon on March 23 at Camp Nelson, located at 6980 Danville Road.

The meeting is open to all military officers and their guests and will take place in the Oliver Perry House, also known as the white house. To attend contact Pat Jones at 859-271-2606.

American Legion Post 63

set to host local event

at homeless shelter

American Legion Post 63 announced it will host an event at the Jessamine County Homeless Shelter, located at 218 E. Maple St., starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday March 24.

The event will begin with posting of the colors, the national anthem and the pledge of allegiance. Lunch will be served and live music is scheduled to begin at noon. All are welcome.

Farmers Market applications now available at JCEO

The Nicholasville Farmers Market announced those interested in becoming vendors, or local artisans looking to display their work, can now pick up applications at the Jessamine County Extension Office, located at 95 Park Drive, or at the Jessamine County Public Library, located at 600 S. Main St.

Celebrating 500,000 volunteer hours

Best Friends Adult Day, located at 5220 Grey Oak Lane, announced it will celebrate 500,000 volunteer hours, along with its 34th birthday from noon to 1:30 p.m. April 25.

Camp Nelson clean up

At 9 a.m. on April 7, volunteers are needed as part of part of Civil War’s Trust annual hands-on preservation event to clean up Kentucky Battlefields and historic sites.

Free health and wellness event

Voyage Strength Studio, located at 107 Louisa Drive, will host a free health and wellness event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, March 23.

Dupont announces organizational meeting

The initial volunteer organizational meeting for the Carolyn DuPont candidate for the Kentucky Senate 22nd district seat will meet at 10:30 a.m. on March 24 at the Jessamine County Public Library, located at 600 S. Main St. All are welcome.

YMCA announces weekly classes

The YMCA, located at 220 East Maple Street in Nicholasville, announced it will host free spring break activities from 1 – 5 p.m. April 2 – 6. Activities include arts and crafts, fun and fitness, team building and a talent show.  From 6-7 p.m. on April 9 – May 21 free Zumba classes are available.
