The following are the Jessamine County Public Library events scheduled for Jan. 25 – 31. The Jessamine County Public Library is located at 600 South Main Street.

Pound Exercise Class

Thursday, Jan. 25

Pound is a jam session / cardio workout inspired by the infectious, energizing fun of playing the drums. Fitness instructor Chris Chandler will lead the classes. All equipment is provided. Please register.

Jump & Jive

Friday, Jan 26

10:30 – 11 a.m.

Join with us as we sing and dance to your favorite storytime songs and rhymes. This high-energy program is specifically geared for kids 0-5 years of age. Families will have fun together as they enjoy age-appropriate songs, rhymes and fingerplays. This is a great time for the whole family to learn their child’s favorite storytime rhymes and songs.

One-to-One Jobs Search Assistance

Get one-to-one help with your job search! A JCPL librarian can help you: Look for jobs. Create and upload a resume or cover letter. Fill out an online application.

Mother Goose Storytime

Mother Goose storytime is designed to provide parents/caregivers and young children time to enjoy books and reading together. Interaction between adults and their children is encouraged through stories, lap songs and fingerplays. No registration is required for this program, so please attend as often as you are able.

Exercise with Ease

10:30 – 11:30 a.m.

If you want to exercise, but need to start slowly, this is the perfect class for you. We can help you get moving gently so you can avoid exacerbating injuries or existing conditions. These exercises can be adapted to fit nearly any physical impediment. Trained instructor, Paula Hutchens will be your guide to exercising with ease. No need to register.

JCPL Book Club: Little Fires Everywhere

5:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Join us for a group discussion of Celeste Ng’s critically acclaimed novel Little Fires Everywhere! Registration is required and copies of the book are available for check out at the Customer Service Desk. Refreshments will be served.

Teen Trivia

Think you know pop culture and trivia? Want to test your skills and win some prizes? Come join us every Monday for Teen Trivia! Topics include: Music, Sports, Food, Books, Video Games, History, and more! This is a come-and-go program and registration is not required.

Video Recording Basics

Monday, Jan. 29

6 – 8 p.m.

Explore the basics of planning and shooting videos; how to control your video camera, executing different shots, and camera motion techniques. You’ll script and storyboard short movie sequences and develop an understanding of the technology setup and lighting.

Family Storytime

Tuesday, Jan. 30

7 – 7:45 p.m.

This storytime is designed for families with children 0-5 years old. Family storytime is designed to provide parents/caregivers and children time to enjoy books and reading together while incorporating early literacy and school readiness activities. Adults and children will spend quality time together as they enjoy stories, lap songs, fingerplays, singing and dancing. Each session includes 25-30 minutes of group interaction followed by an opportunity for parents and children to play, talk and read together. Participation is encouraged as we explore language and movement in a group setting.

No registration is required for this program, so please attend as often as you are able.

JCPL Jeopardy

Tuesday, Jan. 30

7 – 8 p.m.

Have you ever wanted to be a contestant on Jeopardy? Here’s your chance to practice! JCPL Jeopardy will be (almost) like a live version of the real game show, with just a few differences: We will have three new contestants at every round. A round will consist of clearing one board of questions. Categories will remain the same throughout the evening. There will be no deduction of points for wrong answers. There will be no double jeopardy. Round winners get a $25 amazon gift card. Winners play against each other in one final round. The winner of the final round gets a $50 amazon gift card. Let’s play! If you’d like to play, please register. If you’d just like to watch, no need to register. Just come enjoy popcorn, drinks and a fun game.

Preschool Storytime

Wednesday, Jan. 31

10 – 11 a.m.

11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

This storytime is designed for families with children 3-5 years old. With an early literacy and school readiness focus, group time includes 25-30 minutes of outstanding stories, poetry, fingerplays, singing and dancing. It wraps up with time for adults and children to interact with a story one-on-one. Participants can then enjoy an additional 10-15 minutes of an age-appropriate art project, physical activity or dramatic play.
