William G. Walter Sr., 80, husband of Carolyn, died Saturday. Service was 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30 at Betts & West Funeral Home. Visitation was Wednesday.

Becky Colliver

Sept. 7, 1949 – Nov. 27, 2017

Rebecca “Becky” Ruth Montgomery Colliver, 68, of Nicholasville, Ky. joined the God she loved and served as she passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home Nov. 27, 2017 after a long battle with cancer.

Born Sept. 7, 1949, in Lexington, Ky., she was the daughter of the late W.C. “Jerry” and Jennie (Caudill) Montgomery of Lexington. Becky was a retired school counselor for the Jessamine County School District. She served in the Fayette and Jessamine County School Districts for 27 years as an elementary school teacher and junior high and middle school counselor. She never met a stranger, and she was a hostess to many.

After retiring from her service there, she continued to serve her community in hospitality roles and as a “Flocker” with her home church, Central Baptist Church, as well as being the “Chow Woman” for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Kentucky’s annual Extreme Build. She enjoyed serving with the UK Women’s Club and serving with her professional organizations Kentucky School Counselor Association and Kentucky Counseling Association, the latter of which she was President. She also loved spending time in her winter retreat at Panama City Beach, Fla.

She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Don; her children, Jeremy (Laura) Colliver of Snellville, GA, and Jason (Naomi) Colliver of Alexandria, Ky.; her four grandchildren, Blaine, Molly, Lucy and Colt, and expecting another grandson, Liam, in December; as well as two nieces and two nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Ellen Montgomery Holder; brother-in-law, LTC Neville E. M. Holder; and sister-in-law, Lois Davis Colliver.

Visitation will be held at Central Baptist Church, 110 Wilson Downing Rd., Lexington, Ky. 40517 on Friday, Dec. 1, 2017 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.and Saturday at 10 a.m. before the Memorial Celebration. Her Memorial Celebration will be held at Central Baptist Church on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017 at 11 a.m. with interment to follow in the Lexington Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to the Rebecca Ruth Montgomery Colliver Scholarship Fund with Baptist Seminary of Kentucky, 400 East College Street, Box 358, Georgetown, KY 40324.
