In December, Wreaths Across America will again be once again presenting a program and laying live evergreen wreaths on graves at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Jessamine County.
Wreaths Across America is a national organization that honors the memory of those who served in the country’s armed forces by placing wreath’s on their graves each December. This year’s Wreaths Across America Ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 16 at noon. Wreath laying will follow the ceremony. The event will mirror ceremonies at more than 1,200 other locations across the country, with each location beginning at exactly the same time.
This annual event seeks to further the WAA mission of “Remember, Honor, Teach,” ensuring that the memories of those who served our country endure.
The goal at Camp Nelson this year is 1,000 remembrance wreaths, and there is definitely a need for more donations to meet that goal.
Donations may be made directly through the Wreaths Across America website.
The deadline for ordering wreaths for this year is Nov. 27. Any orders received after that date will go towards the 2018 goal.
