Powell S. Whitlock

Aug. 14, 1931 – Nov. 11, 2017

Powell Simmons Whitlock, 86, loving husband to Wilma Whitlock, passed away on Saturday. He was born on Aug. 14, 1931 in Green County, Ky. to Leslie and Winnie Whitlock. He founded Christ Community Church in 1974, and was retired from GE. He enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing in his pastime. He is survived by two daughters, Sheila Gay Whitlock (Thom) Gorham and Karen Whitlock (Kevin) Purdy; four grandchildren, LaDonna Gorham (Darrell) Roberts, Marissa Gorham, Gabrielle Purdy and Jesse Purdy; and great-grandson, Brooks Lee Roberts. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Whitlock. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Christ Community Church with Rev. Vernon Adams officiating. Joshua T. Hager

Dec. 12, 1983 – Nov. 13, 2017

Joshua Todd Hager, 33, died unexpectedly Monday, Nov. 13, 2017. He was the son of Debbie Parks Hager and the late Burch A. Hager. He was also the fiancé of Shay Blair. Josh was an avid outdoorsman who liked riding horses and any type of hunting; especially deer hunting  and coon hunting. He enjoyed working with wood, and attended Bethel Christian Church. Josh was super proud that he received his GED in May of 2017. He was a magnet for kids. He loved kids and they loved him. He enjoyed teaching them about hunting and other handyman craftsmanships. He especially loved spending time with his niece Savannah, nephew Tyler and his fiancé’s children, Shaylyn, Ethan, Stephen and Shana, as well as his sister’s children, Chelsea, Kealan and Adrianna.

Additional survivors include his sister, Misty LeMay (Jo) Hager; niece, Savannah Adkins; nephew, Tyler Murphy; Paternal Grandmother Mary Anna “Dandy” Hager; maternal grandparents Bobby and Ann Parks; aunts and uncles, Jan and Mike Hager, Donna and Johnny Hager and Teresa Walker. His cousins include Anna, Aaron, Aly, Willie, Vance, Vickie, Caleb, Tucker, Karen, Rachel, Deana, Chastity and Jeremy. Special friends are Jack and Patty Cooper.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his sister, Valerie Hager Adkins; aunt and uncle Terry and Brenda Hager; grandfather Bob Hager; cousins Hope and Michael Hager; and  special friend Nolie Blakeman.

Funeral services will be 11a.m. Friday at Betts & West with Bro. Bill Bales officiating. Pallbearers will be  Josh Teater; Adam White; Cam and Craig Ryan; Johnny, Mike, Vance and Aaron Hager; Jack Cooper; Tyler Murphy; Hershel and Joe Morris; Justin Harvey; Anthony Roe and Kevin Barnes. Honorary pallbearers will be Contessa Small; Ashley Tanner; Sheree Cunningham; Jan and Donna Hager; Helen “Red” Kouns and Kevin Corman.
