TODAY

­­— The Wilmore Senior Community Center at 1125 Lexington Rd. in Wilmore is hosting Asbury University Masterworks Series at 3:30 p.m. Dr. Glen Flanigan brings his student jazz ensemble to play favorites and classics. Reception and hors d’oeuvres to follow.

­­—   Nicholasville Elementary’s Site Based Decision Council will meet at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12, October 17, November 14, December 12, January 16, February 13, March 13, April 10, May 15 and June 12 in the Nicholasville Elementary School Library.

­­—  Wilmore TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) weight-loss support group meets Thursdays in the community room at Jessamine Village, at the end of South Maple Street in Wilmore. New members are welcome. Contact Eva Jacobs at 859-858-3456.

­­—  The meetings of the Jessamine County Democratic Executive Committee will be held on the third Thursday of each month from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Jessamine County Democratic Headquarters at 219 N. ­­—  The Family Center at 334 East Main in Wilmore hosts Night Owls Time! every Thursday at 6:15 p.m., catering to families with working parents or student parents (or those who are just night owls). Doors open early so that you can bring your supper. Donations accepted.

FRIDAY

­­— A Jessamine County to Puerto Rico event is taking place at J’s Place at 101 S. Main St. in Nicholasville from 6-9 p.m. The event will feature a silent auction and take donations for hurricane relief in Puerto Rico. Live music will be performed by Jonathan Hutcherson.

SATURDAY

­­— The Marsh Family is hosting Pictures with Santa at their residence at 209 Courtney Dr. in Nicholasville from 12-4 p.m. The event is being sponsored by Timeless Photography, and is open to the public.

­­— Join Jessamine County Mobile Counselor Paige Christian for an educational and
insightful presentation on Post-partum Mood Disorders at The Family Center in Wilmore from 10 – 11:30 a.m. Learn the distinguishing characteristics of each kind of mood disorder with some tips for identifying, treating and living with them. Donation of $5 per family suggested, free for members.

­­— The Bluegrass Ironmen a nonprofit Men’s Ministry meets every Saturday morning at 203 Oak Street (behind CVS Pharmacy) in Nicholasville for a hot breakfast. The breakfast cost is $3 during the summer and the regular cost during fall and spring is $5, and if it your first time it is free. Those who would like to come and cannot afford the cost it is free also. We have a speaker that usually takes about a half an hour and then we have table discussions on the speaker’s topic.

­­— On the second Saturday of every month. The Family Center in Wilmore will host Bellies and Beyond: Birth Plans at 10 a.m. The program will help mothers with pregnancy and the first year.

MONDAY

­­— The Jessamine County Fire District Board of Trustees will meet at 4:30 p.m. on the second Monday of each month at the Jessamine County Fire District Station 1 located at 1310 S. Main Street in Nicholasville.

­­— The YMCA will host Teen Night at the Caroline Memorial Community Center at 220 E. Maple St. in Nicholasville every week from Oct. 23 ­­— Nov. 20. Call 859-885-5013 for more information.

­­— The Family Center in Wilmore hosts Preschool Time!, a skill based meet-up helping families engage in a little edu-fun that allows parents to help their children with early literacy, math and science both gross and fine motor skills with ideas to try at home at 9:30 a.m. Younger and older siblings welcome. Giving them ideas to try at home. Free for members, but donations accepted.

­­— The Family Center hosts Crunch Time!, a weekly meet-up for those looking for other families who
breastfeed, cloth diaper, practice gentle discipline, babywear, and other natural parenting or “crunchy” practices. Every week at noon (food welcome). Donation accepted and free for members.

TUESDAY

­­— The Nicholasville Toastmasters meet from 7 to 8 p.m. on each Tuesday at the Jessamine County Public Library. Master the art of public speaking. Nicholasville Toastmasters is a diverse group of individuals dedicated to supporting members in becoming a confident speaker and leader.

­­— The YMCA will host Adult Chair Yoga at 11 a.m. at the Caroline Memorial Community Center at 220 E. Maple St. in Nicholasville every week from Oct. 24 – Nov. 21. Call 859-885-5013 for more information.

­­— Al-Anon’s Saturday morning meetings in Nicholasville are now cancelled. A new Al-Anon meeting using the same Al-Anon 12-Step program will be hosted in Wilmore at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays each week at the Wilmore United Methodist Church located at 209 E. Main Street, in Wilmore. Al-Anon meetings are for those troubled by another’s alcohol use, or substance abuse. ­­— The Wilmore Senior Community Center is hosting “Smiling Memories and Melodies of 1926” at 1:15 p.m. Direct from Cypress, TX, John Korsgaard returns with another magical musical stroll down memory lane, this time from the “Roaring Twenties”!

­­— Play Time! at The Family Center allows families of all ages and stages to explore toys, games, books and crafts with a new theme each month. In honor of National Pediatric Health Month, your child(ren) can pretend to be a nurse, doctor, EMT or other medical professional with all our fun items! Drop in anytime between 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Suggested donation of $3 per family and free for members.

­­— The Wilmore Senior Community Center will host Flex Exercise with Aureol at 11 a.m. on Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays.
