Representative Kim King, who represents House District 55 that encompasses part of Jessamine as well as all of Mercer and Washington counties in Kentucky’s General Assembly, has been recognized as a Legislative Champion by Kentucky’s premier child abuse prevention organization.
King was heralded for her sponsorship of House Bill 38 during the 2017 General Assembly. The bill, which prohibits sex offender registrants from being on the grounds of a publicly-owned playground without written permission, was signed into law by Governor Matt Bevin on March 21, 2017.
“With over 8,000 registered sex offenders in our state, we can only imagine the impact this legislation will have on our communities” said Jill Seyfred, Executive Director of Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky.
King, who has served her constituents since 2011, was recognized on Sept. 18 at the Louisville Crowne Plaza, where over 600 child advocates were in attendance.
