Humes, Colts top Nelson County

Quarterback Jacob Humes scored three total touchdowns leading West Jessamine to a 41-19 win over Nelson County.
The host Colts got the scoring started early with a 52-yard touchdown run from Humes on the first offensive play from scrimmage for West Jessamine. Desmond James added a three-yard touchdown run on the next possession before Humes’ second touchdown on a 21-yard run came with just over eight minutes remaining in the second quarter.
J.C. Diehl would add a 22-yard touchdown to give West Jessamine a 27-6 lead at halftime.
Just like the first half, West Jessamine scored on the first play from scrimmage in the third quarter on a 59-yard pass from Humes to Jamesy Swentzel. Diehl would score his second touchdown with 4:53 to play in the third quarter to give West a 41-6 lead.
Nelson County would add two touchdowns to end the third quarter after West Jessamine head coach John Gilliam started subbing in his reserves.
West Jessamine has now won four consecutive games after losing their first game of the season. The four-game winning streak is the longest for a West Jessamine football team since 2010.
The Colts will play their first district game next week at Taylor County.
