Local youth find ways to help out after Harvey

After school on Friday, three youth in Jessamine County decided that they needed to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey.
Lindsey Lowe, 8, Jason Powell, 10, and Ciera Johnson, 11, opened a Sweet Tea Stand on Barkley Estates Drive for thirsty travelers. Their endeavor was so successful that they continued on Saturday and Sunday until noon. At the end of the venture, they had collected over $100.
The young Samaritans then took the money collected to Kroger in Nicholasville to be forwarded to the American Red Cross to be dispersed to those affected by Harvey.
