Community ‘builds bridges’

For its fourth year’s community service day will be offered later this month to benefit organizations such as Revive House Ministries, All God’s Children, the Jessamine County Homeless Coalition, Jessamine County Schools, public services and the community as a whole.

On Saturday, August 26, Bridges — an event hosted by Scatter Joy, a nonprofit organization based in Nicholasville, in partnership with the Jessamine Christian Church and Mt. Eden Christian Church — will be hosted all over the community.

As part of the event volunteers will be giving free haircuts to children and adults in need, free oil changes for single moms, yard work, painting, small repairs and cleaning.

Scatter Joy is also asking for help with packaging over 14,000 meals, which will later be sent to children in Haiti.

There will also be a bake sale in Edgewood Plaza, a food service at the Farmer’s Market and a car wash at the homeless shelter. All proceeds and donations will go to charities.
