Ima Lowery

Ima Jean Owens Lowery, 82, widow of Lavert Gynn Lowery, passed Monday, June 12, 2017. She was born July 6, 1934 in Jessamine County to the late Sam and Bessie Hager Owens. She was the loving mother of three surviving children, Bessie Janelll Lowery Sawyers, Lavert Dale Lowery and Angelisa Lowery; five grandchildren, Ashley (Michael Reese) Lowery, Sabrina Sawyers, Candida Sawyers, Jeana Sawyers (Derek) Huffman, and Donovan Sawyers; two great-grandchildren, Savanna and Dawson Huffman; and several nieces and nephews. Ima was also preceded in death by four brothers, Albert “Dave”, Elwood “Tuck”, Odell “Lou”, and Sampson “Toby” Owens. Ima was a warm woman, full of laughter who brought joy to all who knew her. She loved her family and friends deeply. She will be missed by all. The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at Betts & West Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Bearers will be Donovan Sawyers, Derek Huffman, Brad Burton, Keith Lowery, Mike Kestel and Theron Owens. Honorary Bearers will be Ted Owens, Sam Owens, Al Owens, Joe Owens, and Delbert Smith.
