An East Jessamine Middle School student was chosen as one of the winners of Kentucky Educational Television’s (KET) 2017 Young Writers Contest.

Adelina Gonzalez, of Nicholasville, placed second in the eighth-grade category for her story, Ode to the Book Never Read.

Gonzales was among 900 submissions to the annual contest, which encourages creative expression and literacy development by inviting students in kindergarten through eighth grade to submit original illustrated stories, short stories and poetry.
