Robert S. Sallee Sr., 67, husband of Phyllis Anderson Sallee, died May 11, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late William and Lillian Sallee. Robert served his country as a member of the U.S. Army in Vietnam, his community as an Assistant Chief of Police in Nicholasville, Chief Deputy Jailer and Deputy Sheriff in Jessamine County. He was a fireman and he served with the Wilmore Police Department. Robert served his Lord as a member of the Jessamine Christian Church, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was an avid woodworker who enjoyed camping and fishing. In addition to his wife he is survived by three children, Robert “Robby” Sallee Jr., Deborah Ann (Shawn) Akers and Jon R. (Mandy) Sallee; seven granddaughters, Sophia Tallman, Alicia Sallee, Madelyn McDonald, Caroline, Ellie and Andersyn Sallee and Karsen Akers; two sisters Billie Jean (Billy Joe) Rainwater and Helen (Byron) Sims; and a brother, Donnie Sallee. Services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Rev. Wally Rendel officiating. Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m. Burial took place in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Bearers were Jon and Robby Sallee, Shawn Akers, Lawrence Deaton, Richard and Dennis Horton, Cecil Gayheart and Mike Gullette.
