The Jessamine County Public Library partnered with the Jessamine County Courthouse, the Jessamine Early Learning Village and County Judge Executive David West to celebrate children who have recently read their first book independently. The Literacy Bell Party was held on Saturday, April 29.
The Jessamine County Courthouse bell also rang to let the community know that the children are now official readers. The children also wrote their names in the library’s Book of Names and received a special certificate celebrating their milestone achievement.
According to a spokesperson for the Jessamine County Public Library, another such celebration will take place in the fall. Anyone wanting to participate can contact or visit the library for further information and details.
