Single car accident results in fatality

The Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office worked its first fatal collision since May 22, 2016, at a single-car accident on Brannon Road Wednesday morning.
According to Chief Deputy Allen Peel, deputies from his office responded to the scene of the crash shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday. The driver of the vehicle, Julie McGlothen, 47, of Nicholasville, lost control and collided with a tree after a dog inside the vehicle distracted her.
According to reports, the dog was riding in the passenger’s lap before he lost control over it.
Both the driver and the passenger of the vehicle were transported to the University of Kentucky hospital. Both McGlothen and the dog died a result of the accident. The passenger in the vehicle was treated for injuries.
